Dubai plans to upgrade Nol’s card-based ticketing system to an account-based system using central wallet technology, costing Dh350 million and expected to be available by 2025. The system will be upgraded to incorporate artificial intelligence technologies like facial recognition.

The RTA confirms that the Nol system, which requires users to have a physical or digital card, will continue with a digital payment system using a centralized transport fare wallet technology.
